about HIV and AIDS.HIV means are initials for Human Immunodeficiency Virus and AIDS are initials for Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome.

Acquired means " to get from"

Immune means "to be prevented"

Deficiency means " la itck of"

Syndrome means"a group of signs"

HIV is that damages the cells in your immune system and weakens your ability to fight everyday infections.HIV is the virus that causes AIDS,meaning you can't have AIDS without HIV virus.Therefore HIV is the virus that is transmitted from one person to another but not AIDS,AIDS cannot be spread from one person to another.

Scientists believe that HIV originated from monkeys or chimpanzees after a man from somewhere in West Africa committed sex with the animal.

HIV is spread from one person to another mainly through body fluids like Saliva,blood,semen,vaginal fluids,breast milk from an infected mother and anal fluids.Other ways of HIV transmission are sharing cutting objects, syringes,needles,razer blades and ear piercing object

There are four stages of HIV infection

-Window stage.Window stage is the most dangerous or infections stage of HIV.This is because at this stage the person tests negative.It is the between first to six weeks after infection.That is why it advisable to get twice with the person you are planning to get married to.No signs and symptoms are visible the person looks so healthy

Asymptomatic stage/ Incubation- it is the second stage of HIV infection. The person still looks very healthy and no signs or symptoms seen.If the person gets tested at this stage the results are positive.

Negative(-) means no virus is detected

Positive (+) means HIV virus is detected

Symptomatic stage- It is the third stage of HIV infection. It is the symptoms and signs showing stage.

Full blown stage- It is the last stage of HIV.Most of people die at this stage.

HIV has no cure,only some drugs that enable drugs that enable many people to healthy life and long.They are referred to as ARV's

Some myths and misconceptions about AIDS are; - HIV can be transmitted by shaking hands, sharing households and clothes.

-HIV is a curse 

-HIV  can be treated- it has no cure

- HIV is transmitted through s*x intercourse only

HIV victims in our society should not be stigmatized instead should be treated with love and care.

We should remember there are God's creation and by mishandling  them is against God's will.
